1) Classes Resume on 1/10 for the Saratoga campus.
2) School Activities
1. The 2026 Northern California Chinese School Academic Contest will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Lynbrook High School in San Jose. The School Preliminary will be held at Saratoga High on 1/31/26, and the deadline to register is 1/18. All current MLCC students, as well as high school students serving as volunteer TAs, are eligible to participate. School prelim registration is online only. Competition subjects include: Impromptu Speech in Mandarin, Speech in Mandarin and Cantonese, Read Aloud in Mandarin and Cantonese, Read Aloud for CFL Students, Hand writing, Calligraphy, Chinese Typing, Hanyu Pinyin, Zhuyin Pinyin, Reading Comprehension, Chinese Writing Composition, Bilingual Translation, Painting and Chinese Painting.

2. Parenting workshop “ How to Support Your Child with Homework” on 1/17 at 9:30am in Saratoga High room #502. Our Program Director Ms. Wang will share useful tips as well as
practical strategies that parents can apply at home, and she will also take your questions. Below is the link to last year’s video on the same topic:
3. Hundred Phrases Evaluation for K-G11 Completed on 12/13
Hundred Phrases Evaluation for K-G11 has completed on 12/13. Thank you to the class coordinators and all the parent helpers. Evaluation for the current level will start on 4/25.
4. Fall Reading Program
Fall reading program ends on 1/10. Students who logged 10 books will receive a certificate on 1/17. Spring Reading Program will end on 5/9.
3). Community Activities
1. Milpitas City Hall is celebrating the Lunar New Year on 2/13 from 6:00-8:30pm. Join us for an evening of live performances and free children’s crafts hosted by MLCC. Families are invited to enjoy hands-on activities such as scroll writing, Lunar New Year arts and crafts, Chinese Zodiac Game Wheel, and a themed photo booth. We look forward to celebrating with you!
2. Chinese Health Initiative is offering free online workshops on Diabetes Prevention from January through May. The Diabetes Prevention Series workshops are conducted in Mandarin.

Date: Friday, 1/30/26 – 5/15/26
Time: 9:00 a.m.– 10:30 a.m.
Culturally tailored for Chinese community members
• Based on CDC Diabetes Prevention Program
• Adapted to dietary and health needs of Chinese population
• Virtual class conducted in Mandarin
• 4-month curriculum, including two major parts:
• Diabetes basics, taught by a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist • Build healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction. Taught by registered dietitians, trainer, meditation instructor, clinical psychologist
