2. Safety Concern

1. To prevent injury, please remind your child there is no running in the hallways at any time.

2. Please slow down when driving in the parking lot during student pick-up and drop-off.

Please be mindful of other motorists and do not block traffic.

3. To protect the image rights of both teacher and students, please be sure to obtain the

teacher’s permission before filming in the classroom.


3. School Activities

2. Halloween Trick or Treat on 10/27. Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on

10/27. Treats will be handed out to students on campus after school.

3. Please help your child review the 100 Phrases from the previous level. 100 Phrases

Evaluation will take place on 12/1, 12/8 and 12/15.

4. Please encourage your child to continue reading in Chinese at home; those who have

logged 10 books by 1/19 for fall semester and 5/17 for spring semester will receive a reading

certificate. You may consider alternatives such as audio books, e-books, and other online

resources. It’s important to provide an environment where students can get as much exposure

as possible, whether by reading or listening, to the Chinese language.

5. Ap Chinese Test Prep has started on 10/3. This online prep class is designed for students

who plan to take Chinese AP Test next May. Currently there are 31 students enrolled.

6. MLCC Teacher Training Program is now taking applications. Our 5-month training

program consists of language teaching pedagogy. classroom observation, and student

teaching, and the program fee is $500. Participants will participate in the observation forum,

submit observation report and develop lesson plans. Priority will be given to candidates who

have experience in teaching, or major in Chinese or foreign languages. Please email your

resume to principal@mandarinschool.org if interested.


4. Sinnott Fall Festival on 10/27

Sinnott Elementary is holding Fall Festive on 10/27 from 5-8:30pm. Parking on campus that

evening will be tight and parents are encouraged to carpool to school on 10/27.


5. El Camino Health Webinars on Emotional Well-Being

Chinese Health Initiative at El Camino Health will offer webinars on anxiety/anger

management on Oct.18, 2023 and Nov. 8, 2023. The webinars are free of charge and

conducted in Mandarin via Zoom. Please see the attached flyers for more details.
